Tutoring a student one on one allows the tutor to get to know a student on many levels. 1:1 tutoring gives the tutor the opportunity to understand the students’ personality, learning styles, interests, academic strengths and weaknesses. Getting to know “the whole child” allows the tutor to structure the tutoring plan to meet his or her individual needs and better foster:

• Improved Self Confidence: While working with a student in a 1-1 setting, it allows the student to take risks while learning. Students learn a great deal from this risk taking. It is important for students to test their learning limits and take these learning risks. It is during these times when students become more confident in themselves.

• Mastery of Academic Skills: One on one tutoring is a great time to practice academic skills repeatedly and consistently. This repetitive practice promotes mastery, confidence and a greater understanding of academic skills. This consistency and repetitive practice of skills is super beneficial for all types of learners.

• Improved Critical Thinking Skills: During tutoring sessions students are challenged in ways that may not occur in a small group or larger setting. Tutors can hone in on an area that challenges a student’s critical thinking skills. This focused practice will not only improve critical thinking skills but also improve their self-esteem.

• Effective Study Habits: Students learn effective study skills while working 1-1 with a tutor. Often times tutors will integrate study skills and tips throughout sessions. Students reap multiple ways of effective study habits during one on one sessions. These strategies will build life long successful learners.

Each of our tutors has been practicing for over a decade and holds a Masters in Education and is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Beyond that, each of our tutors has further credentials in specific practice areas. We are positioned to give your child exceptional skills that will last for years to come.
